Covenant Classical Christian School Receives Accreditation
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA (JUNE 27, 2024): Covenant Classical Christian School (CCCS) in Columbia recently became the first school in the state to earn full accreditation status from the Association of Classical Christian schools (ACCS), the largest and most widely recognized representative of classical Christian education in the nation.
The ACCS offers the only accreditation specifically designed for classical Christian schools and is among the most challenging of any accreditation in K-12 education.
Following an extensive process of self-study and on-site visits, the ACCS verified that Covenant, which operates independently of state or federal governance, consistently implements a rigorous classical Christian philosophy of education throughout the entire school organization and meets the foundational standards.
“Covenant was established in the 1980s. Since those early days, the Lord has been gracious to bless the efforts of the many people that have served at Covenant for more than three decades,” said CCCS Headmaster Patsy Hinton. Hinton continued, “In 2020, the Covenant board committed to truly transitioning to a classical Christian model of education. We are honored to join the 66 other ACCS accredited, Christ-centered and Classical schools in the country and to bring the first accredited classical Christian school to South Carolina.”
On June 22nd, ACCS President David Goodwin presented CCCS with an award recognizing this significant accomplishment at the annual ACCS conference in Atlanta.
“When you walk the halls of Covenant today, it is evident that a transformation has taken place,” said Goodwin. He continued, “In the students, you see a winsomeness and delight in learning, serving, and being a member of the Covenant community. Over the last four years, the teachers, board members, administrators, and parents have remained steadfast and courageous in their commitment to providing a distinctly Christ-centered and classical education.”
“We are exceedingly grateful to God for his continued provisions and blessings,” said Hinton. CCCS looks forward to continuing its service in the Midlands, training disciples, scholars, and citizens for generations to come.”
